The Planetarium: Ep. 24 -- Saturn and Cassini
This week is something of an unintentional double feature. As I was searching for recent art featuring our solar system's most famous ringed planet, I kept coming across beautiful tributes to the spacecraft Cassini/Hyugens. Known as Cassini for short, the probe has been humanity's eye in the sky around Saturn for close to 20 years, delivering stunning images and a wealth of scientific data.
Intentionally flown into Saturn's atmosphere this past September, Cassini has gone on to that great Parts Depot in the sky. Let us take a moment now to appreciate how much it contributed to our understanding of Saturn and its many moons.
